center 32%Knowing it is not the same as using it. Most students can define inflation. Marks go when they have to use it: pulling figures from a stimulus, drawing the right diagram, then tracing how a change in the cash rate reaches spending, jobs and prices. Short answers and extended responses reward that chain of reasoning, and a full class rarely practises it out loud.
Their current unit, on the whiteboard. The tutor starts with whatever the class is studying this week, such as market failure or the RBA's latest cash rate decision. The student explains it and sketches the diagram, then answers a past short answer question under time. That evening the parent app has a report on what held up, what did not, and the plan to the exam.
At the next school task, usually. 98% of students report more confidence. Marks show up at the next piece of school assessment, which in senior economics might be a SAC, a data response test or an investigation. Lessons run weekly through the term, and the account manager reviews progress with you at the end of it.
Top 2% of applicants. Matched to the student, not assigned.

Private 1-on-1 economics tutoring with Tutero costs A$65 an hour, and the rate is the same in Year 9 as in Year 12. There is no contract and no sign-up fee, and you pay after each lesson rather than for a term in advance.
The hourly rate includes matching with a tutor who knows the student's course, a dedicated account manager, a written report after every lesson in the parent app and free tutor changes if the fit is not right.
Tutors work to the student's own senior course: VCE Economics Units 1 to 4, the NSW Year 11 and HSC Economics courses, QCE Economics, WACE Economics ATAR, SACE Stage 1 and Stage 2 Economics, TCE Economics Level 3 and IB Economics at SL and HL.
Lessons cover demand and supply, elasticity, market failure and government intervention, the goals of growth, low inflation and full employment, fiscal policy, the RBA and monetary policy, and international trade. Students also practise data analysis, short answers and extended responses.
Each lesson is one student and one tutor, live, on an interactive whiteboard where they can draw and annotate demand and supply or AD and AS diagrams together. The student keeps the same tutor each week, so the tutor knows which unit is coming up and how the next SAC or school task will be marked.
The first change most parents notice is confidence: 98% of students report more confidence. Marks follow at the next school assessment, because every lesson is planned around the student's own course and task dates.
After a short quiz, an account manager calls to ask about the student's year level, state course, upcoming assessments and how they like to learn. The tutor is then chosen for that course and for personality fit, from the top 2% of applicants to Tutero.
In the first lesson the tutor works through the current unit, finds where marks are being lost and sets goals for the term. If the match is not right, a new tutor is free.
Tutors break an essay or extended response into steps the student can repeat under time: answer the question directly, define the terms, use the stimulus data, explain each link in the argument and finish with a judgement. The student writes, the tutor marks it against the task's criteria, and the next attempt fixes one thing at a time.
Closer to trials and the final exam, lessons move to past papers, timed multiple choice and short answer practice, and a revision plan.
Tutero's economics tutors are chosen from the top 2% of applicants, and each student is matched with a tutor who knows their particular course, such as VCE Units 3 and 4, HSC Economics or IB Economics at HL. Four tutors are introduced on this page. The full team is on the Our Tutors page, with each tutor's subjects, university and background.
Anywhere in Australia with an internet connection. A Year 12 student in a country town has the same choice of economics tutors as one in a capital city, with lessons on weekdays, evenings and weekends.
There are dedicated pages for economics tutoring in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and Adelaide, and for VCE, QCE, WACE, SACE and TCE Economics.
Submit a request with the student's year level and course, and the team will match them with an economics tutor. Most families start with one lesson a week, timed around school assessment dates. You pay after each lesson, there are no contracts, and you can stop any time.
